Abstract
This final report aimed at knowing the obstacles faced by student of 6th semester English Department State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya and doing public speaking.In this final report, writer used descriptive qualitative method. Writer chose students of 6th semester English Department State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya as the population include as the sample of the research. The data were collected from the in depth interviews. Writer prepared some questions about the experience of student at 6th semester on public speaking and what faced by students on doing public speaking.The interview was done to 30 students of 6th semester. The result of the research showed that all of students of 6th semester faced the obstacle on doing public speaking. The obstacles was classified into three types, they were psychology obstacle, technical obstacle, and semantic obstacle. Writer suggests the students of English Department to be more aware about their ability and what hampered them on doing public speaking. Thus they could try to explore and find out the solution about what are the effective way that they should do to solve all of those obstacles. So does for the lecturers of English Department especially for the lecturer of Public Speaking subject.
