Abstract

Informatics Management is one of the majors at State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya. To produce competent educators in line with the campus Vision and Mission, it requires various measurable and continuous efforts. Many efforts can be done so that the goal can be achieved, one of them through the assessment of lecturer's performance. Some of the weaknesses of traditional performance appraisal as well as the increasingly tight competition among lecturers, balanced score card is an alternative performance assessment for the lecturers which can support the efforts to increase the competitiveness. Balanced Scorecard is a management system, measurement, and control which are fast, precise, and comprehensive. It can provide manager's understanding of the business performance. Performance appraisal must be done to find out the achievements that can be achieved by each lecturer. By carrying out the performance appraisal process, the achievements achieved by each lecturer with very good, good, sufficient, less or less good grades can be known. Assessment of achievement is important for every lecturer because it is useful for the institution to establish further policy actions. To that end, the author applies the Balance Scorecard method in the Performance Appraisal Application for Lecturers of the Informatics Management Department of State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya.
