Abstract

Making Methyl Ester (Biodiesel) of Wasted SoybeanWith In Situ Transesterification by Using NaOH as Catalyst (Pebri Suendra Wanri, 2014, 65 Pages, 24 Tables, 33 Pictures ) The background of this research is to know whether soy pulp waste from industry knows can be used as materials for biodiesel. whereas the purpose of this study is the use of waste soybean dregs as material of biodiesel by transesterification process in situ. This study also aims to determine the effect of temperature and operating time in situ transesterification process on quality characteristics of biodiesel. analysis conducted on biodiesel products include density, viscosity, acid number, calorific value and flash point. From this study, the optimum conditions at a temperature of 50 ° C and a time of 90 minutes, with a data density of 0.866 g / ml, 4.82 cSt viscosity, acid number 0.44 mg / g, calorific value 9481.4679 Cal / g and a flash point of 104 oC. Based on the data obtained, the authors concluded biodiesel products already meet the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). Authors suggest further research needs to be done with a variety of types of catalyst to oil from waste soybean dregs. Keywords: Biodiesel, In Situ Transesterification
