Abstract

Waswater Jumputan Fabric Treatment By Using Kitosan-PVA Composite Membrane (Leny Erisna Putri Renata, 2014, 52 Pages, 9 Tables, 16 Figures, 4 Appendixes) One of inviromental contamination exist in South Sumatera is water contamination which is because of waste water jumputan fabric. The purpose of this research is to make a composite membrane of chitosan and PVA mixture for treating wastewater jumputan fabric, to test the feasibility of the membrane (flux) and determine the effect of contact time of the liquid waste that have passed the membrane. The membranes are made with two variations of the composition is the composition of the chitosan-PVA 75%: 25% and chitosan-PVA composition 80%:20%%. To determine the performance of the membrane using a membrane test "dead-end" with the operating pressure was varied in the range of 0.5-2.5 bar and rejection at the contact time of 5-25 minutes. To determine the surface morphology, cross section and pore of membranes, analyzed using SEM (Scaning Electron Microscopy). Membrane with chitosan-PVA composition of 75%: 25% have a better flux value is 6.272 L/m2.jam, so that the membrane is used for treating wastewater jumputan fabric. Rejection indicated on the optimum contact time of 15 minutes at 51.852% with a COD at wastewater content of 5096 mg/L, TSS 4100 mg/L and pH 5.89 Keywords: composite membrane, chitosan-PVA membrane, wastewater jumputan fabric
