Abstract
THE DESIGN OF PEAT WATER TREATMENT UNIT USING AERATION, KOAGULATION, AND FILTRATION PROCESS TO REDUCE THE CONCENTRATION OF COLOR AND IRON (Fe) (Ade Yuniar A, 2014, 61 Pages, 6 Tables, 14 Figures, … Attachments) The design of peat water treatment unit processes with aeration, coagulation, and filtration is designed to treat peat water from small river in the Bailangu Muba village South Sumatra Province into clean water. The aim of aeration and coagulation processes is to reduce the particles that cause turbidity and brown / black color of peat water. The process using activated carbon filtration and ultrafiltration membrane serves to reduce the amount of metal contained in the peat water samples such as iron (Fe) and color of the peat water. Base on the result of performance testing tool level color processing results from 339,73 PtCo to 28,40 PtCo. The decreasing of color that meet Ministry of Health standards No.416/Menkes/Per/IX/1990 is 50 PtCo. Base on the result of performance testing tool level iron (Fe) processing results from 3.42 mg / L to 1.9457 mg / L. Keywords: peat water treatment, filtration, aeration, coagulation.
