Abstract
Preparation of Chitosan from the Waste Shells Snail With Sodium Hydroxide Concentration Variations (NaOH) In Stage deacetylation Muhammad Riswan, 2014 : 58 Pages Snails are very harmful agricultural pests that cannot properly utilized especially in its shell, one way to reduce these pests is by treating the snail shells into chitosan to preserve fish on the river or mujaer Diah for this study. To process the snail shells into chitosan through three processes deproteinasi, demineralization, and deacetylation. This study aimed to obtain the optimal conditions of chitosan by varying the concentration of sodium hydroxide variables (NaOH) 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, and 70% were used in the deacetylation step on the physical properties and the content C, H2, and N2 on Chitosan . In research on the optimum conditions can chitosan at concentration of 70% NaOH which has the characteristics of standardscompliant, and can preserve mujaer fish for 130 hours. Keywords : Snail, Chitosan, Sodium hydroxide, Physical properties
