Abstract

THE VARIOUS EFFECT OF SOLVENT AND COLOUR STABILITY TEST ON EXTRACTION PROCESS OF CHLOROPHYLL FROM KATUK LEAF (Sauropus androgynus) Lufita Lutfia Andriani, 2014, 55 Page, 17 Tables, 14 Pictures, 4 Attachments The purposes of this research are to know the effect of solvent type and concentration of solvent to total chlorophyll produced and color stability test. On this research, do the extraction process as much as 25 grams of katuk leaf with solvent as much as 150 ml. The various of solvents used are ethanol (60%, 70%, 80% and 96%) and acetone (60%, 70%, 80% and 98%). The various in light and dark storage area. The results of this research showed that chlorophyll a is more soluble in less polar solvents and chlorophyll b is more soluble in polar solvents. The higher the concentration of the solvent, the total chlorophyll produced also increasingly. Color stability test showed that the chlorophyll in the dark tend to be more stable than in the light. The longer of the storage time and degree of acidity (pH) of chlorophyll, absorbance of chlorophyll is decrease. The results of research, the highest total chlorophyll acetone solvent was 41.1074 mg / l and the smallest 18.6435 mg / l with ethanol. A stable storage chlorophyll area is in a dark place and storage time of 1-2 weeks. Key Word : katuk leaf, extraction, chlorophyll
