Abstract

Subgrade is a structure that is very important in building a road construction because the subgrade will support traffic loads or construction loads above. The strength and durability of the pavement structure, will greatly depend on the properties and subgrade bearing capacity. Some of the problems that often arise about the durability and strength of a pavement, it is essentially dominated by the dispute. Some properties that are less favorable than the subgrade damage that can cause problems include the nature and development of large losses due to a change in water content. Improvements on subgrade were soft due to changes in moisture content generally by modifying or making special handling to produce the subgrade be better for a road construction as well as materials that meet the standards of road planning. One attempt to do to improve the properties of the soil by way of stabilization. This study aims to determine the effect of the addition of materials and the percentage of added lime to the increase of the percentage of clay with the addition of lime added at 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10%, 12.5%, 15% of the total dry weight of clay through laboratory testing process. Based on the results of laboratory CBR testing the effect of adding lime to the value of CBR is organic clay of field CBR value smaller when compared to the land that has been added with the lime. In the CBR without soaking native land value percentage is 19.86%, while the percentage of the value of CBR with soaking is 6.88%. CBR value highest percentage of clay was achieved in 10% condition with the addition of lime on CBR value of 31.58% and 25.71% without soaking the CBR immersion. Keywords: soil stabilization, soil organic clay, lime.
