Abstract

ThisfinalreportanalyzedtheusedoftranslationstrategiesintranslationofthreefolktalesofSouthSumatera.Thewriterwantedtoknowtheuseoftranslationstrategyineveryshortstoryoffolktalebasedontwelvestrategymainlyusedinareadingtextorstory.Thedatawerecollectedthroughdocumentation.ThewritertookthreeshortstoriesinfolktaleofSouthSumatera.Thedatawereanalyzedbyusingstandarddeviationmethod.Thewriterfoundfivetranslationstrategies.TheyareAddition,Transposition,DescriptiveEquivalent,Omission/deletion,andExpansion.Thekindsofclassificationoftranslationstrategiesaredividedintotwopartssuchasstructuralstrategyandsemanticstrategy.ItconcludedthatadditionstrategyisthemostfrequentlyusedinshortstoriesinfolktaleofSouthSumatera.Itissuggestedthateveryonewhowantstoimprovewritingskilltolearntranslationstrategy.Thetranslationstrategyhelpthewritertoorganizetheideasofstoryandtheknowledgeoftranslationstrategyisalsousefulinimprovingreadingabilityforthereaders.Forthatreasons,thewriterandthereadersshouldpayattentiontotheusesoftranslationstrategy.Itcanhelporganizetheideas,andmakethereaderseasiertounderstandthestorybecausethetranslationstrategiesguidethereadersinreadingthestory.
