Abstract

Transformer loading which exceeds 80% of its capacity rating can be harmful to the transformer itself. Moreover, the capacity of the load served by a transformer, with long distance can cause voltage drop and power loss along the line of low voltage. To fix this, PT PLN (Persero) Branch of Sukarami choose to install the additional transformer. Additional transformer will overcome the load on the transformer with excess load, so that it will impact on the improvement of voltage drop and reduced power losses. The purpose of this final report is to determine the transformer loading conditions, the voltage drop and power losses before and after the installation of the additional transformer. The results of calculation obtained, the transformer at the substation I.1913 loading in excess of 102.6%, after the installation of additional transformer, loading is reduced to 29%. Furthermore, the highest voltage drop before the installation of additional transformer obtained by 18.29%, exceeding the permitted standard voltage drop by PT PLN is 4%. After the installation, the voltage drop is reduced to 2.95%. Then, for the power loss is reduced from 19.29 kW to 11.014 kW. Keywords: additional transformer, over load, voltage drop, power loss.
