Abstract

Now, the production industry of paints is mixed paints from chemical material, chemical solvent, and using of pigment can issue odor and cause shortness of breath and also to remove the smell of the paint takes a long time.This research was conducted to make paint from natural materials, which from latex, crude palm oil, and CaCO3 Using crude palm oil as color pigment, and solvent of thinner so that obtained quality oil paint that meet the standards of ISO 3564 : 2009. This Research carried out in terms of determining the composition of the mixture of rubber latex , crude palm oil , CaCO3 as a staple and solvent of thinner so that the produced of oil paint. So, the problems in this research , how to produce paint from latex, crude palm oil and thinner so as to form a oil paint with the exact composition and produce paints in accordance with ISO standard 3564 : 2009. The research results manufacture of oil paint from natural rubber latex showed that if used too little then the low oil paint adhesion , otherwise if latex too much will cause watery nature of the resulting paint. The optimum results are obtained with the paint composition of 120 ml crude palm oil, latex 25 ml and 30 ml thinner with characteristics that meet the standards of ISO 3564 : 2009 that density 1.280 g / ml , pH 8 , total solids 88,51 % , viscosity 1226.666 cP, touch try time 25 minutes, as well as hard dry time 38 minutes.
