Abstract

Biodiesel is a fuel derived from vegetable oils or animal oils that have similiar properties to fossil diesel. One type og microalgae that are easy to obtain is Chorella Sp. this spesies is easily cultivated and his oil content of 28-32%, so it is suitable to developed as one of raw material for making biodiesel.biodiesel is made from exstraction, Esterification,and Transesterification. The extraction process is done by maceration then proceed to the esterification and transesterification process by reacting with methanol and acid or base catalyst to produce methyl ester. The purpose of this research are to developa microalgae Chorella Sp as an alternative raw material for making biodiesel, and then to determine out the process of making biodiesel from microalga. To obtain these goals in this research will use variabels esterification time of 30,60,90 and 120 minute and temperature transesterification of 45, 50, 55, 60oC. The results obtained showed optimal time to process esterification of 30 minute with temperature 45 oC. Caloric value is obtained 10038,907cal/gr and flash point 154 oC.
