Abstract

This study explores the use of deixis in the conversational context of Deddy Corbuzier's podcast featuring the Palestinian Ambassador. The research focuses on identifying and categorizing different types of deixis, including person deixis (64 instances), time deixis (15 instances), place deixis (14 instances), social deixis (10 instances), and discourse deixis (13 instances) within the podcast transcript. By analyzing 116 instances of deixis, the study aims to illustrate how these linguistic elements contribute to the clarity, coherence, and contextual understanding of the conversation. The findings underscore the importance of deixis in shaping effective communication, particularly in spoken discourse, where it helps anchor meaning within specific spatial, temporal, and social contexts.
