Abstract

PLTU is a system of electric generation that convert chemical energy into electrical energy with water as the fluid it works. PLTU is one of the power plants that operate using equipment (components) that are interconnected between one and the other like a boiler, furnace, steam turbin, generator, electric panel, superheater and the others. Research carried out using the method of structural and functional approach. The water pumped into the shelter of the boiler for heated to steam shape became transformed. And the the steam piped to a turbinethrough the nozzle and turbine vanes so the turbine spinning at a given speed causes the generatorto work transforming the kinetic energy into electrical energy. The research results obtaines by the boilers pesification type vertical fire tube boiler with steam operation 5 Bar. The dimension of the boiler’s diamtre 50 cm, height 100 cm, and there in lies the fire tube with a diameter of 2,5 cm by as much as. Diesel fuel used and the volume of water maximum of 70 liters. The material used carbon steel type S 285 Grade C and the material for tubes pipe seamless steel carbon SA 63 Grade B. Furnace made of steel and there are 2 burner in it. From the testing that is done the performance measurement units contained in the system is also the overall measurement system.
