Abstract

This final report aimed to research and develop a short story entitled “The Secret of Kampung Kapitan” to explore historical tourism in Palembang. In this study, the writer used the Research and Development (R&D) method proposed by Plomp. The development process consisted of five stages: (1) Preliminary Investigation, (2) Design, (3) Realization or Construction, (4) Test, Evaluation, and Revision, and (5) Implementation. In the preliminary investigation stage, the writer collected information about Kampung Kapitan through a literature study and observation by gathering documentation related to the historical site. In the design stage, the writer planned the storyline, characters, and narrative structure based on the historical background of Kampung Kapitan. The realization or construction stage involved writing the first draft of the short story by combining historical facts with fictional elements. The draft was then tested and evaluated by two experts to obtain suggestions for revision in the test, evaluation, and revision stage. Finally, the implementation stage resulted in the final version of the short story entitled “The Secret of Kampung Kapitan”, which aimed to introduce and promote the historical heritage of Palembang through a literary work.
