Abstract

This final report aimed to develop a bilingual illustrated storybook entitled “The Legend of Goa Putri” as an educational medium for children and a tool for preserving local folklore from South Sumatra. The storybook was designed to introduce the legend of Goa Puteri through simple language, colorful illustrations, and moral values suitable for young readers. This study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model. However, due to time limitations, the development process was limited to the Analysis, Design, and Development stages. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and expert validation. The Analysis stage focused on identifying children's reading needs and selecting the local legend as the story source, while the Design stage involved planning the storyline, characters, bilingual content, illustrations, and page layout. The Development stage included story writing, illustration creation, and product revision based on expert feedback. The final product is a 20-page bilingual illustrated storybook that introduces local culture and folklore while supporting literacy development and cultural preservation among young readers.
