Abstract

One of the environmental pollution in South Sumatera is pollution that is caused by liquid waste by industrial liquid waste from its yarn dyeing process. To overcome that problem, we need a technology that can process that waste, so that it can fulfill the standard that is specified in Governor Regulation number 8 of 2012. The technology that is used is polysulfone – polyamide (PSF-PA) composite membrane with variation of variable (they are consist of pressure and the consentration of the adsorbent). The Goals from this research consist of some goals. First, to decrease the dye and the other measurement parameters such as turbidity, COD and pH from industrial liquid waste. Second, to determine permeability and selectivity (flux and rejection). Third and the last to determine the optimum operating condition from variable that is used (variations of pressure and the consentration of adsorbent) toward the treatment of industrial liquid waste of songket weaving. Based on the result of this research, the value of membrane flux is 21,81 L/m2hour. For the rejection value, from four measurement parameters that is measured, the optimum operating condition for the variation of preassure 0,5-2,5 bar (range 0,5) is at the preassure of 0,5 bar. For dye rejection the optimum operating condition is on the addition of 2000 ppm adsorbent, the value is 90,15%. For COD rejection the optimum operating condition is on the addition of 3000 ppm adsorbent, the value is 93,18%. For turbidity rejection, the optimum operating condition is on the addition of 3000 ppm adsorbent, the value is 91,69% and for pH rejection is on the addition of 1000 ppm that is 12,67%. Based on this research, it can be concluded that the bigger the value of pressure, the bigger the value of flux that is resulted but the smaller the value of rejection.
