Abstract
Coal is one of the fossil-fuel backup are very abundant in Indonesia. Before being used as a fuel, coal needs to be given early treatment desulfurization, in an effort to reduce emissions of SO2 that could potentially pollute the air when the combustion of coal. This research aims to know the influence of electrolyte solution concentrations and the speed of the stirring process desulfurization of coal with the method of electrolysis. On the method of electrolysis of aqueous H2SO4 is used as an electrolyte and graphit as anode and cathode as steall stainless. On the variation of concentration of 0.1 M the process of electrolysis, the obtained optimum conditions occur at a speed of 400 rpm stirring with a decrease in sulphur content of 75%. As for the concentration of 0.5 M process of electrolysis, the obtained optimum conditions occur in stirring speed 500 rpm by decreasing sulphur content of 74%. due to the decline the coal sulphur content then the heating value of coal will be reduced. This is because sulfur has a heat value when the value of sulfur reduced so the heating value coal will be reduced
