Abstract
The depletion of fossil energy reserves make people seek for new clean energy replacement that is safe to the environment. Until now, it has developed a new energy and environment-friendly, ranging from the utilization of solar energy, wind energy, to the use of hydrogen for energy alternatives. Hydrogen becomes the focus of attention of developers of renewable energy because it is clean (environmentally friendly because of its use produces only water vapor which is safe for the environment) and superior in terms of efficiency and it is portable. The process of electrolysis is separate water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen gases, one of which is by way of an electric current to the electrodes. electrolysis reaction is not spontaneous redox reaction, the reaction occurs because of electrical energy. In this research has created a Prototype Water Electrolyzer. Water and Potassium Hydroxide electrolytes used were 6 liters with process variable is the variations in the concentration solution. The optimum production of hydrogen gas is on KOH mass of 25 grams with the amount of gas is 8.56 liters and 82.08 % tool efficiency.
