Abstract

POME is the remainder cast off which emerged by industry that have no toxicant but has high energy pollution because it contains the organic compound that can soil environment. So that the handling of liquid wastes have to do, one of them by using ceramic membrane. In developing of ceramic membrane microfiltration have done by some researcher to aplicate in POME type. To get optimum ceramic membrane in POME process , so this research use variation of composition in making ceramic membrane, where the material compotion that used is clay, zeolite, sodium carbonate, and boric acid. Method of thus making ceramic membrane is printing and burning step in temperature 900 C. before filtrated with ceramic membrane, POME experienced pretreatment firstly by flowing POME passed the active carbon, next is flowed to ceramic membrane with pore 5,9 μm in pressure 1,7 bar with time range 10 minute during 30 minute. Th research result sgows that has the influence variation of composition to the quality of final result with %rejection BOD 42,89 %, % rejection COD 81,87 % and %rejection 92,40 % with flux score 0,2474 (L/m2min). by parameter score that is getting show that ceramic membrane able on processing POME with efectivity result that satisfied, where score have showed the result that have fit to the quality of POME based on government Sumater Selatan Regualtion No. 8 2012
