Abstract

Protection relay is a device that works as a result of abnormal conditions on a system, which them instruction the circuit breaker to open channel have been affected, thus minimizing the power losses are distributed. One of the protection relay is an overcurrent relay that works based on the increase in current that exceeds that value of a particular security (setting the current time). The purpose of this jurnal report is to calculate short ciruit current and counting overcurrent relay settings on the Gatot Kaca feeders and the distribution network of 20 kV Talang Kelapa substation. This Talang Kelapa substation uses 2 transformers 150 KV / 20KV, each of which has the power of 60 MVA. In getting in distance of 0% the short circuit calculation in Gatot Kaca feeders amounted to 11444 A, 6721,11329 A in the 20%, 2944,57505 in the 40%, 2091,64783 in the 60%, 1619,22629 in the 80%, and 1320,10975 in the 100% of distance. As for timing setting of relay jobs in Gatot Kaca feeders are 0,29 s in the 0%, 0,33 s in the 20%, 0,41 s in the 40%, 0,45 s in the 60%, 0,49 s in the 80%, and 0,53 in the 100% of distance. Meanwhile on the incoming transformers side is 0,69 s. Keywords : relay protection, circuit breaker, short circuit, and setting the current.
