Abstract
One of the uses of electrical energy which is used by human is as a lighting source. The need for better Public StreetLighting can not be ignored because street lighting is very important for the road users. Public Street Lighting (PSL) certainly uses large amount of electricity energy for each day. As one of the thrifts of electrical energy sources,then the innovation is done in designing the public street lighting. One of them is usingthe new and renewable energy by utilizing solar energy by using solar cell. Solar cell is very important in the battery charging processand in charging process,a microcontroller and a relay are used as the control. If the battery voltage <12 V, then the microcontroller will order the relay to switch to the Normally Close (NC) position and there will be charging process on the battery. And if the battery voltage is>12 V, then the microcontroller will order the relay to switch to the Normally Open (NO) position and the battery charging process will stop. The process of charging by using solar cell is strongly influenced by the weather and the shadow.
