This study aims to empirically examine the development and comparison of the level of profitability of SOEs and private enterprises. The research sample used in this study is a mining company listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) with year study period from 2009 to 2013, the data were taken is a summary of the company, the financial ratios. Data collected by purposive sampling method. The sample used is the 8 companies, consists of three state-owned enterprises and private enterprises during 2009-2013 5. In this study, measurement of variables used is composed of profitability ratios ROA (return on assets, ROE (Return on Equity), NPM (Net Profit Mergin) and GPM (Gross Profit Margin). Analysis used is the independent sample test. Research results showed that there was no significant difference between the levels of profitability of SOEs and private enterprises. Yet overall level of profitability of state-owned mining enterprise (SOE) is better than the private-owned mining company (BUMS) in the study period.
