Abstract

The purpose of this final report is to investigate whether TanjungKelayang Beach had potential as a tourism destination in Belitung. Using a qualitativemethod, this report described the tourism phenomena of Tanjung Kelayang Beach in order to know its potential as a tourism destination. The data were collected by using observation and interview. The observation was conducted to the five essential elements of tourism destination as suggested by Spillane (1994:63-72). They were attractions, facilities, infrastructures, transportation, and hospitality industry. The interview was delivered to an information from the Tourism Department in Belitung. The results show that TanjungKelayang Beach hadpotential to be a tourism destination in Belitung. It wasbecauseit hadthe five essential elements of tourism destination. It is suggested thatto make TanjungKelayang Beach more potential to be tourism destination, it is needed some addition facilities and transportation such as CCTV, ATM, and public transportation.
