Abstract

During this chemical laboratories already perform waste handling, that is with accommodate it. Therefore there needs to alternatives for waste treatment. ubi gadung are a type of tubers underutilized, but after research showed that ubi gadung has a fairly high carbon content as its main content. With his ability as an absorbent be motivated to concentration of 0.1 M, 0.2 M, 0.3 M, 0.4 M, and 0.5 M then filtered and dried in the oven. Absorption is then performed with the contact time between utilize ubi gadung as adsorbent in the absorption of Fe and Pb as well as reduction in the value of COD and BOD laboratory waste. The absorption process is done with cleaning and drying ubi gadung in the sun, carbonisation, size reduction, and activated the activator the adsorbent laboratory wastewater for 24 hours to vary the weight of the adsorbent 3gram, 7gram, and 11 grams with the activator concentration. The results showed that the optimum uptake of metal Fe and Pb from wastewater occurs in the laboratory the weight of 11 grams and concentration of 0.4 and 0.5 M, for the optimum reduction value of COD and BOD from laboratory wastewater are at 7 grams and 11 grams, and at concentrations of 0.4 M and 0,5 M. Key words: dioscorea hispida dennst, actived carbon, adsorbent, laboratory wastewater.
