Abstract

The Influence of Temprature and Operating Time on The Manufacture of Liquid Fertilizers Potassium Sulfate from Oil Palm Shell Ash (Luthfi,Achmad 2014: 40 Pages, 13 Tables, 21 Pictures, 4 Attachments) Waste oil palm plantations is a waste produced from crop residues are left behind at the opening of the plantation, rejuvenation and harvesting oil palm. One type of waste in this industry is the oil palm shell. Palm shells has many elements such as K, Na, Ca, Mg, Zn. One of which is an element of K is usually used to make liquid fertilizer potassium sulfate. The purpose of this study is to make a liquid fertilizer of potassium sulfate by reacting sulfuric acid and determine the effect of temperature and time of operation of the manufacturing process. The process of making liquid fertilizer sulfate kalium done by palm shells cremate the furnace at a temperature of 450oC, 10 grams of ash were put into a beaker and add 200 mL of distilled water and then reacted with 0.4 mL of concentrated sulfuric acid with stirring speed of 450 rpm. Variations used in this study was time: 70 minutes, 80 minutes, 90 minutes, and 100 minutes, and operating temperature: 800C, 900C, 1000C, and 1100C. Products in the form of potassium sulphate fertilizer liquid obtained from sediment filtration. Liquid fertilizers analyzed potassium content, sulfate, and acid-free. Time and temperature optimum at 90 minutes and 1100C, which produces liquid fertilizer potassium sulfate with the concentration of potassium (K) 2.175%, 1.78% sulfate, and 0.84% acid free. Based on this study, it can be assessed that the ash content of potassium sulfate from oil palm shell has to meet the standards by SNI 02-2809-2005.
