Abstract

The Effect of Temperature and Operating Time for Making Liquid Potasium Sulfate Fertilizer (K2SO4) from Palm Oil Shell Ash with Addition of Gypsum (Ibrahim, 2014: 73 Pages, 14 Tables, 21 Pictures, 4 Attachments) Palm oil shell is one of agriculture waste. Therefore, it needs to do the research about using of this waste. The aim of this research is to get liquid potassium sulfate fertilizer from palm oil shell ash with addition of gypsum. Sulfate contained in gypsum was reacted with the potassium from the ash of palm oil shell. Cleansed palm oil shell, which is burned in the furnace at 450oC, mixed with the pulverized gypsum, at 150 mesh. Parameter variatons which is used in this research is feed ratio: 10:1, 11:1, 12:1 and 13:1, and stirring speed: 200rpm, 300rpm, 400rpm and 500rpm. The product, liquid potassium sulfate fertilizer is earned by filtration process. The content of potassium sulfate is analyzed. The optimum feed ratio and stirring speed is 12:1 and 500 rpm, with result of potassium content 2,18%, sulfate content 1,85% and free acid as shulpuric acid content 0,0018%. Based on the research can be concluded that the liquid potassium sulfate fertilizer which made from palm oil shell ash and gypsum has meet the standard, based on SNI 02-2809-2005.
