Abstract

As we know, growing energy needs are not comparable with the growing availability of fuel thinning day. Therefore it is necessary for an investigation to obtain alternative source of renewable energy by utilizing biomass waste such as banana leaves and coconut shell. Utilization of banana leaves and coconut shell potential when processed into solid fuel because of their numbers was abundant and has a fairly high calorific value. In this research is made of a mixture of waste biobriquette banana leaves and coconut tapioca with adhesive. This aims of this research was to obtain bio-carbon briquette in accordance Indonesian standard and determine the effect of variations mixture composition on the quality of raw materials produced bio-carbon briquette. Bio-carbon briquette was making it through several stages of preparation such as raw materials, the intial analysis, briquetting and also final analysis. The result of this research that the calorific value bio briquette in standard the composition of banana leaves and coconut shell (30:70)%, water obtained at 11,39 %, 32,15 % of volatile matter, ash content of 10,60 % and fixed carbon 56, 20 %.
