PROTOTYPE biomass gasification (SHELL OIL) Updraft system SINGLE GAS OUTLET (Effect of Air Flow Rate Products Against Syngas) (Richard, 2014, 75 Pages, 11 Tables, 14 Fig) Population growth led to increasing consumption of non-renewable fuels such as petroleum, natural gas and coal has increased, while the dwindling availability and must be addressed. One way that can be used to overcome this problem is to use renewable energy such as biomass and waste a lot of dimilikai by an agrarian country like Indonesia. One potential technology for the utilization of coconut shell is a source of energy gasification technology. Gasification is the process of conversion of solid fuel to gas fuel capable (CO, CH4, H2) through the combustion process with a limited air supply that is between 20% to 40% of air stoichiometri. This research will be conducted by the coconut shell gasification process using a single updraft gasification system using a gas outlet air flow rate lpm 105.99, 122.4 and 136.84 lpm lpm able to produce a fuel gas. In order for combustion to occur completely necessary air to fuel ratio is ideal in order to get optimal thermal efficiency. These results indicate at 105.99 LPM flow rate obtained at 81.53% efficiency which is the optimal flow rate in converting syngas. Keywords: Updraft gasification, coconut shell, the air flow rate.
