Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the general picture of experience during the process of writing a short story entitled “Eat or Not” to introduce Palembang traditional food using fish as the main ingredient. In this study, the writer used research and development (R&D) method. The writer only conducted two steps: preliminary study and product development. In the preliminary study, the writer describes the results of data collection by literature study, field survey: observation and interview, and draft model. The data were collected from the interview, observation, and documentation. After the writer got the information about the short story by analyzing the data from literature review, observation, and interview, the writer started writing the short story by using the process of writing a short story by Grenville (2001); getting ideas, choosing, outlining, drafting, revising, and editing. In model development, the writer asked four experts’ opinion about language and the contents. Comments and suggestions about contents and language from experts were filtered and used by the writer to revise the short story. It is expected that the short story “Eat or Not” not only entertains the readers, but can also be a medium to promote Palembang traditional food.
