Abstract
This research was conducted to find out the self-confidence in public speaking sixth semester students’ in English Department of Sriwijaya Polytechnic. The purpose of this research was to know the percentage of self-confidence in their public speaking. This research used a quantitative method. The techniques of collecting the data used questionnaires by using readymade questionnaire by Nahar Khoriroh (2018). The population were sixth semester students in English Department of Sriwijaya Polytechnic in 2020. There were 50 participants were answered the questionnaires taken using purposive sampling. The result shows the percentage of self-confidence in sixth semester students’ public speaking in English Department of Sriwijaya Polytechnic. The findings revealed that, the higher students’ confidence, the more students’ ability to speak in public. This was supported by the results of a questionnaires that revealed the percentage of self-confidence in public speaking for sixth semester students in English Department of Sriwijaya Polytechnic reaching 80,18%.
