Abstract

This study aims to describe the lecturer performance based on abstract, body and conclusion (ABC format) of public speaking principle in teaching process at State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya. In this research, the writer applied qualitative research to analyze the data. The data were collected from a sample of 10 lecturers’ were assessed by 20 students by using the questionnaire directly. The total of questions on the questionnaire are 15 question that divided into three parts namely abstract, body and conclusion. In the findings, the writer found that the used of abstract, body, conclusion have a differencess percentage. The percentage of abstract are 31% “always”, 31% “often”, 28% “sometimes”, 10% “never. Meanwhile, in the body are 25% “always”, 39% “often”, 29% “sometimes”, 7% “never”. The percentage of conclusion are 34% “always”, 35% “often”, 25% “sometimes” and 10% “never”. Therefore, it can be concluded that the the lecturer performances is good enough, because from all the data the highest percentage is “often”.
