Abstract
Illocutionary acts can be defined as the words people use when they are in certain contrext. People use the illocutionary acts depending on the context, addressor, addressee, and setting. This research analyzed the illocutionary acts used by Jackson, the main character of 2012 movie. The purposes of this research were to find out the context and classification of illocutionary acts used by the main character and the most dominant illocutionary acts used by him. Qualitative descriptive method was used in this research. The result of this research showed that there were 32 utterances using Directive, 20 utterances using Representatives, 13 utterances using Expressives, and 4 utterances using Commisives. In conclusion, Directive was the dominant one used by the main character in this movie.
