Abstract
This study aims to identify whether the five types of slang proposed by Allan and Burridge (2006) are represented in the movie Fast X. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method. The data were obtained from the movie dialogues and screenplay. The collected data were identified, classified, and analyzed based on Allan and Burridge’s (2006) theory, which categorizes slang into five types: fresh and creative, flippant, imitative, clipping, and acronym. The findings revealed that all five types of slang are represented in the movie Fast X. A total of 50 slang expressions were identified. Fresh and creative slang was the most dominant type, with 26 occurrences, followed by flippant slang with 13 occurrences, imitative slang with 8 occurrences, clipping slang with 2 occurrences, and acronym slang with 1 occurrence. These findings indicate that the characters in Fast X frequently use informal and expressive language to create natural communication and reflect social relationships among the characters.
