Abstract

Utilization of water as an alternative energy by converting it into a fuel gas is an innovation that needs to be constantly developed. Converting the water into the gas needed electrical current supply and electrode to decompose water into hydrogen and oxygen gas. Electric Current variation was used at the range between 5 to 15 amperes, while the sodium chloride electrolyte solution which was used has a concentration of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50%. To conduct this research, the Prototype Oxyhydrogen Fuel Generator was designed. The purpose of this tool is used to generate the Oxyhydrogen gas which able to use as fuel. Variations in electric current and concentration of electrolyte used as the dependent variable remains to calculate how much energy is used and the efficiency of the electrolysis process. From the results, Oxyhydrogen gas produced increases with the amount of electric current supplied, the highest Oxyhydrogen gas production obtained at 15.9 amperes electric current and concentration of the electrolyte solution by 50%, then the lowest production occured when the concentration was 10% and electric current of 5.3 amperes. From this research it can be understood that the more electrical current supply will increase the quantity of gas produced. in the other hand, the electrolyte concentration is also very influential to accelerate the electrolysis reaction.
