Abstract
The uses of coconut and root crops have many benefits, especially to the preparation of traditional Indonesian food and beverages. One way to manage the coconut and root crops as raw material for food and beverage is to be shredded. Equipment needs grater that is easy to use, easy to carry, easy to maintain and economical is necessary for housewives and cottage industry (home industry) therefore need a tool appropriate technologies that are affordable by the user, so that from it then made design Multipurpose shredders machine to be more practical and efficient in order to facilitate a housewife and a cottage industry (home industry) to be more practical in doing pemarutan coconut and root crops. Besides this versatile grater machine uses an electric motor that utilizes second-hand goods in the form of a washing machine motor capacity 7 kg as a vehicle later rounds will be forwarded to the electric motor shaft will rotate pulleys grater and grate the ingredients that have been put in place grater. Then the results will grater falls directly into the reservoir at the bottom. The process of making this machine started from making frame, body grater, cover the motor, and a container of grated results. The time and cost required to produce one unit of this versatile grater is 704.451 minutes and Rp. 722,078.5793. This versatile grater engine can result in more soft and good when compared with manual grater. In addition grater versatile machine is more efficient than manual grater, because the motor that is used on a grater versatile machine using a motor with power 1/4 HP.
