Abstract

Almost of the soaps in market contains synthetic additive that impact the skin especially for sensitive skin. In these research, the soap by using natural additive such pandanus leaves has function as antioxidant, color and odor as well. This research aims to making soap with pandanus leaves extract addition to produce soap with a good quality and fulfill SNI 06-3532-1994 standard. The problems are to determine NaOH concentration for making soap and find out the optimum point of pandanus leaves extract addition as antioxidant. The result show that pandanus leaves extract influence the soap quality, not only the physical effect such as color and odor, but also water content, alkali free, free fatty acid, and antioxidant. The soap which fulfill SNI 06-3532-1994 standard are soap with NaOH 9,86 M and pandanus leaves extract is added as much as 2,5 gram has water content 13,25%, alkali free 0,08%, free fatty fat 0,369%, mineral oil is negative, pH 10 and antioxidant 0,7608 gram. The soap with NaOH 9,86 M and pandanus leaves extract is added as much as 5 gram has water content 13,75%, alkali free 0,088%, free fatty fat 0,492%, mineral oil is negative, pH 10 and antioxidant 1,6086 gram and the soap with NaOH 9,86 M and pandanus leaves extract is added as much as ,5 gram has water content 14,5%, alkali free 0,096%, free fatty fat 0,820%, mineral oil is negative, pH 10 and antioxidant 1,7391 gram.
