Abstract

The Comparison of Activated Carbon From Bagasse and Corn Cob As Adsorbents of Metal Cu in The Crude Oil Sewage Spill Lily Damayanti Agustin, 2014, 65 Pages,Figures 26, Appendixs 4 The spill waste of crude oil contains many dangerous either harmful, toxic and others substances. One of them is Cu metal in the oil. It is necessary to treat the waste so it do not to pollute the environment. One of the process is adsorption using activated carbon from bagasse and corn cobs. The preparation of activated carbon bagasse and corn cobs consists of sample preparation process, carbonization, sieving with ≤ 170 mesh size, activation using 0.1 N HCl, washing and drying. The characteristics of activated carbon that has been made has fill the require SII No. 0258-79 with water content of bagasse 6.282% and 3.555% for corn cobs whereas the ash content of bagasse 2.595% and 1.612% for corn cobs. Activated carbon that fill the requirement of standard is contated with the spill waste of crude oil as much as 100 ml with variation of mass 3 g, 6 g dam 9 gr. The best results of adsorption using the activated carbon obtain by 9 grams of corn cobs with 89.410% efficiency of adsorption. Keywords: Metal Cu, Bagasse, Corn Cobs, Activated Carbon, Adsorption
