Abstract

This final report studied about the method in delivering the speech conclusion in Nelson Mandela’s speeches. The data were collected through documentation. The writer used twenty of Nelson Mandela’s speeches. The data were analyzed by using descriptive qualitative method. The results indicate that Nelson Mandela applies five methods in delivering speech conclusion: making dramatic statement, calling to action, telling a story, using a quotation and summarizing speech. Making dramatic statement is the most dominant method applied in Nelson Mandela’s speeches. In addition, there are four types of speeches that are applied by Nelson Mandela; those are special occasion speech, inspirational speech, informative speech and persuasive speech. Special occasion speech is the most dominant type of speech applied by Nelson Mandela. In applying methods of speech conclusion when delivering a speech, it can make speech memorable and impression
