The purpose of this study is to describe the type of grammatical cohesion used and the least grammatical cohesion used by the students of English Department at Polsri. This study was descriptive research with a quantitative. It analyzed texts and presented a frequency count to identify the types of cohesive markers employed in the texts. There were 30 students chosen as the population of this study and the sample were 6 students who were selected. The analysis consists of reference, substitution, ellipsis, and conjunction. There were 30 argumentative essays, six essays had been purposely selected. The sample of the research is selected with the purposive sampling. The instrument used in this study was a writing test. Furthermore, the result of this study shows that the students are able to use four types of grammatical cohesion in their writing. Conjunction and Reference were found most frequent in students’ texts with percentages occurring in those types being 58.30% and 40.33%. In addition, ellipsis and substitution, each of them give a contribution to students’ texts just 1.02% and 0.33%.
