Abstract

The purpose of this final report is to identify the rhetorical and plot of the content by analyzing them. Data were collected through corpus data collection and library research. The object of this final report is rhetorical pattern. The rhetorical patterns in novel entitled “Third Girl” are available in two monologues (chapter 18 and 21). The first monologue had 8 moves (claim, theory, rhetorical query, claim 2, evidence, explanation, rhetorical query, task evaluation) and the second monologue had 8 moves (claim 1, evidence, theory, claim 2, evidence, explanation, rhetorical query, acceptance query). Plot had five elements: exposition (in chapter 24), conflict (in chapter 7), complication (in chapter 14), climax (in chapter 24), and resolution (in chapter 25).
