Abstract
The utilization of wood industry waste must have value for use, economical, and optimal. One of them is to convert it in the form of liquid smoke through pyrolysis process. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of pyrolysis temperature on percentage of randement and the quality of liquid smoke produced and to know the temperature percentage of randement to get good quality of liquid smoke. In this study, liquid smoke was made using a set of pyrolysis tools with acacia mangium mill. The variation of temperature used were 100⁰C, 120⁰C, 135⁰C, 165⁰C and 180⁰C with pyrolysis time for 6 hours. This study analyzed the amount of liquid smoke product obtained, water content, density, pH, acetic acid content, and phenol content and also % randement in liquid smoke. The results show that the longer and higher the pyrolysis temperature, the amount of liquid smoke, density, acetic acid content, phenol content, and % randemen are higher while the pH and liquid water content decreases. From the research result, the highest volume of liquid smoke is produced at 180°C as much as 160 mL with the % randement 45,6%.
