Abstract

In secondary distribution network of electrical power distribution system, the voltage up to the customer is often lower than standard voltages which specified by PLN. This is caused by the drop voltage in the conductor while doing an electrical distribution. Some causes of this excessive amount of drop voltage are the flowing current on conductor, conductor’s length, and the type of used conductor. These three factors are not only causing a great value of drop voltage, but also power losses in conductor itself. This final report shows the result of losses and drop voltage evaluation in each phase of M-184 distribution substation of PT. PLN (Persero) Rayon Mariana. Based on evaluation results, the flowing current on conductor is the major cause of power losses. This can be seen on A branch which has shorter length than B branch, however it has more power losses than A branch. This evaluation also show that PLN have to bear 29,887 kW of power losses. At the same time, drop voltage on A, B, and D branch have already exceeded the standards of PLN, i.e. over than 4%. To overcome these problems, requiring the addition of new network at M- 184 distribution substation. With this addition, most of attached load can be replaced to a new network, so that we can decrease the amount of flowing current in conductor to improve the quality of electrical distribution. Keywords : Power losses, Drop voltage.
