Abstract

This research aims at finding out the process of designing a short story entitled “A Day in BalaputeraDewa Museum” to introduce historical objects in Palembang. The problem was to design a short story entitled A Day in “BalaputeraDewa Museum” to introduce historical objects in Palembang. This study is limited by the process of designing in terms of the content a short story entitled “A Day in BalaputeraDewa Museum” related to fiction in the light of historical objects in Palembang. There are several kinds of historical objects in the BalaputeraDewa Museum, such as a replica of statues, collection of heritage objects, a replica of inscriptions, and RumahLimas. The method of this research was Research and Development method. The research techniques for collecting the data were observation and interview. In this research, there were two experts of story content, two experts of linguist, and one expert of historical objects expert from BalaputraDewa Museum. The writer used snowball sampling. Based on the result of this research, the short story of “A Day in BalaputraDewa Museum” was made throughout five steps. The conclusions were in designing the short story, there were five steps which must be done, namely reading some journals, doing observation, writing a draft, doing the testing, and considering the revision as the final product.
