Abstract
THE EFFECT OF MIXED COMPOSITION OF BIODIESEL ANDWASTE COOKING OIL AND ALSO HEATING TEMPERATURE ON QUALITY IMPROVEMENT OF LIGNITE COAL (Indria Febrina, 2014, 51 pages, 5 Tables, 10 Pictures, 2 Appendixs) Lignite coal upgrading process in general aims to lower the water content in the coal. In this research, the process of upgrading to the mixing between the coal, biodiesel and waste cooking oil. The purpose of the use of used cooking oil is to coat the surface of the coal after the process of upgrading to remain stable in the absence of water is re-absorbed by the coal. Biodiesel mixture itself serves to dissolve a number of impurities which are indicated in the cooking oil. The treatments were given during the upgrading process, namely the composition of the mixture varieting biodiesel and cooking oil that is 0,5:0,5; 1:1 and 1,5:1,5. Variations of this treatment is based on the volume fraction of each ingredient. The next involves the heating temperature difference is given to coal, biodiesel and waste cooking oil. Run the heating temperature variation is 150oC, 175oC and 200oC. The results showed the composition of the mixture of biodiesel and cooking oil are the optimum match 1:1 with the heating temperature 150oC. The calorific value of coal upgrading process results equivalent to the rank of high-volatile bituminous C. The overall effect of the composition of the mixture of biodiesel and cooking oil to coal quality upgrading process is the result of the increase in volatile matter (volatile matter) and reduced carbon fixed (fixed carbon) which is caused by the presence of a number that has not been dissolved impurities and oils that coat the surface of the coal. Effect of heating temperature on the quality of the calorific value of coal is increasing with decreasing water content in the coal.
