This report discusses about designing a storybook entitled The Origin of Silampari for children. The purpose was to find out the steps in designing storybook in Bahasa Indonesia and English versions to introduce and maintain the existence the legend of Silampari. The writer used Research and Development method modified from Borg and Gall (1981) consists of two main steps: Research Steps and Development Steps. The modification was conducted due to the limitation of fund and time. The result revealed that in designing the storybook, the design was created by the writer and supported by some expert’s suggestion for better final version. The writer prepared the data of the framework in designing the storybook. All collected data were inserted to the storybook and arranged into a good design to be printed as a trial printed version. It was reviewed by two experts: design and language. The storybook is an attractive storybook for children. Besides, the storybook is also a medium to preserve the culture of Musi Rawas regency.
