Abstract
WAYANG KULIT PALEMBANG (Dewi Anggreini, 2015, 50 pages,) "Culture which became extinct" is the right metaphor to indicate the condition of wayang kulit Palembang today. Great potential possessed by the wayang kulit Palembang as a genuine cultural society is now becoming obsolete. As a younger generation in Palembang city, the writer is interested in analyzing in-depth information because wayang kulit Palembang is a treasure that never opened its existence so that anyone knows that there is a genuine culture of Palembang community. The writer interviewed one of puppeteer, that can be said is the last puppeteer of wayang kulit palembang, as the successor to the younger generation who does not want to learn about the wayang kulit Palembang as their native culture. The writer interviewed puppeteer directly to obtain valid data and analyzed it in order to find the best solution. Issues in this final report are the characteristics of wayang kulit Palembang, the similiarities and diferrences between wayang kulit Palembang and wayang kulit Java. Based on research, the writer concluded that wayang kulit Palembang characters have in common in terms of story and wayang shapes. However, wayang kulit Palembang have differences in terms of the language used in the stage, color, music tool and used song, costumes worn players, etc.
