ABSTRACT THE USE OF “JAJULUK” OF KOMERING ULU WEDDING CEREMONY IN PALEMBANG (Mardiah, 2015:26 pages) Symbolism has a close relationship between the man and his culture. One form of symbolism is giving Jajuluk on wedding ceremony. Giving the Jajuluk has become a tradition of indigenous peoples in South Sumatra. Giving the Jajuluk to the bride and groom is conducted by the local custom leader. Giving the Jajuluk to the bride and groom has become a customary tribe of Komering . Tradition giving the Jajuluk is interesting to study because of some problems that exist in it. Such as, what are the hints of giving the Jajuluk? What is the essence of the giving the Jajuluk? Collecting data in this study conducted by two techniques of observation and interviews. In this study, the writer used a qualitative research because this study was included in the research culture. The results was that Jajuluk is an old Malay cultural heritage, which is still preserved up till now. This tradition is held on the man or woman of Komering people were adulthood in societies marked by a marriage. So this is not knighted, and it does not indicate one's social status. As for the meaning of the giving of the Jajuluk where is expected to the bride and groom as a respect to the ancestors, prayers and hopes, and deliberation.
