Abstract

This final report studies about students’ perceptions on generic skills development through study excursion. The data were collected by giving questionnaire, semi structured interview, and focus group discussion. The writer took sample of fourty students who did study excursion abroad. The data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive method. The results indicated that study excursion provides opportunities for experiential learning program, and from the questionnaire it can be seen teamwork skill was greatly improved and linguistic skill was moderately improved, from the interview and focus group discussion there are twenty generic skills which are developed. The generic skills are problem solving skill, thinking skill, planning and organizing skill, communication skill, teamwork/leading skill, negotiation/managerial skill, coordination/teamwork skill, interpersonal/ social skill, making and maintaining relationship skill, linguistic skill, skills of using and interpreting media, skills of gathering information, skill of independent learning, willingness and ability to continue learning skill, adaptability/flexibility/survival skill, personal mastery skill, social and cultural awareness/social skill, skill of being open minded, personal mastery skill about general knowledge
