Abstract
Pulping using banana bark with soda process has been carried out by most of people. Usually the process is performed in a laboratory scale. To simplify the process of making pulp, writer tries to design pulp reactor then make it. In designing the device, the stages are : first, manufacturing reactor pulp prototype and setting up the device; second, pre testing reactor pulp; third, pulping and analyzing the result. In the pulping, cooking temperature is one of the factors that affects the pulp quality because the low cooking temperature will make the cellulose content in pulp a little while the high cooking temperature will damage the cellulose content in pulp so it needs the right cooking temperature to make pulp. The research is expected to be able to make the reactor pulp, can determine cooking temperature of pulp to the product analysis result, and get the data of pulp quality based on Indonesian National Standard using a made reactor. The results obtained from conducted research with cooking temperature variations of 80 ° C, 90 ° C, 100 ° C, 110 ° C and 120 ° C the optimum cooking temperature of pulping using pulp reactor is 90ºC which produces pulp with pulp yield 64.0875%, 73% cellulose content, 8.5% lignin content, 16% moisture content, 2.5% ash content, and the tensile strength of pulp is 1.9614 KN /m.
